While the route has been more or less officially determined, various methods of measuring the distance have produced differing values. Brrrrr.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fastest March:<\/strong><br \/>\n[displayname name=&#8221;Thomas Gray&#8221;] performed the fastest March in <a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=2407\" title=\"2013\">2013<\/a> with a time of about 4 hours, 17 minutes, including lunch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Slowest March:<\/strong><br \/>\n[displayname name=&#8221;Hasen Ahmad&#8221;], [displayname name=&#8221;Gil Fischel&#8221;], and [displayname name=&#8221;Justin Nadigoo&#8221;] hold the record of being the slowest Marchers to finish the March in <a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=268\">2010<\/a>. [displayname name=&#8221;Hasen Ahmad&#8221;]&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vibramfivefingers.com\/index.htm\">FiveFingers<\/a> caused him to travel very slowly. [displayname name=&#8221;Gil Fischel&#8221;] and [displayname name=&#8221;Justin Nadigoo&#8221;] fashioned makeshift sandals to strap to his FiveFingers. In the end, they finished in about 12 hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Youngest Marcher:<\/strong><br \/>\n[displayname name=&#8221;Jesse William Fuller&#8221;]&#8217;s 4 year old son attempted the March in <a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=2407\" title=\"2013\">2013<\/a>. He made it to Trippet Ranch (albeit he was carried up some of the hills&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>The youngest person to ever finish the hike was [displayname name=&#8221;Sean Roman Shelton&#8221;] in <a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=266\" title=\"2009\">2009<\/a> at age 13. This record was broken when Joe finished the hike in 2018 at age 9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shortest Failed March:<\/strong><br \/>\nOne person quit after the first hill in <a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=1465\" title=\"2012\">2012<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Largest March:<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=1465\" title=\"2012\">2012<\/a> was likely the single biggest group to at least start the march together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Smallest March:<\/strong><br \/>\n2001, 2004, and 2019 all only had 5 people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most Failed March:<\/strong><br \/>\n6 people started but did not complete during the <a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=2833\" title=\"2014\">2014<\/a> march. This beats <a href=\"http:\/\/deathmarchtothesea.com\/?page_id=231\" title=\"2001\">2001<\/a> by one person, even though that was the only march where not a single soul made it to the sea!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Least Finishers:<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile 2001 didn&#8217;t have anyone person finish, 2019 has the lowest non-zero number of people to touch the ocean at 2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are some statistics about the Death March.
